Open Field by James Turrell
(2000) A staircase leads up to what initially appears to be a rectangle of projected blue light on a wall. On walking up the stairs, you realize it’s not a projection, but a hallway that can be stepped into. At the far end, it opens up into a indeterminate space, a ganzfeld. You get the impression that this space is infinite.
One of my favorite pieces, the effect is awfully disorienting.
