Pumpkins

October 2009

Sushi, who moved to France to teach for a year, was in town with a good handful of French students. Kes, being the crazy awesome host she usually is, decided to introduce them to a part of seasonal American culture and throw a massive pumpkin carving party. Ava and I misread the invitation and ended up missing the pumpkin patch part of the event (yes, we are so good at this!) but we showed up later for the ritual evisceration.

Janette's car was transformed into a Pumpkin Car, but not in the way you might think.

Stab.

Oh, the pumpkinmanity!

Or something.

When everyone was done the pumpkins were lined up and lit with tea light candles.

Ava's is the one on the left.

Unfortunately I was helping make curry and didn't have time to carve my pumpkin. Kes bought be a pumpkin with "character": lopsided, twisted, and unable to stand up on its own. I love it, and am trying to figure out what to do with it.
